Let me just say the community was really fantastic and encouraging. There is something amazing about your project moving not just to a computer to a large screen but having an audience watch it. I feel greatly blessed by being able to enjoy the films that all of my classmates made and enjoying my last showcase as an undergrad. It is really exciting to see how this film has been recieved, we will be doing a few tweaks before we start festing it!
A random quote that I have found very true over the last year:

“Those
who love you are not fooled by mistakes you have made or dark images
you hold about yourself. They remember your beauty when you feel ugly;
your wholeness when you are broken; your innocence when you feel guilty;
and your purpose when you are confused.”
A special thank you to all of my friends who have supported me over the last year, you should be able to find their blogs on my sidebar.
If we can make it to Friday we will be in the clear!! But tonight there will be some more audio and after effects work. I'd also like to say that Jake Sidwell is pretty cool since he composed the score for this film. It's brilliant and perfectly fitting. Anyways this week is quite busy, but hopefully manageable. If we can get everything worked out I would like to post a very happy blog update but for right now in the final stretch and just wanted to get everyone up to date on where we are.
Other such things include the fact that graduation is quickly approaching... actually lets not think about that until projects are done.
I don't know if that is a good thing since I am just now becoming a regular updating person on here but oh well. It will have a collection of my work from the past four years ( okay maybe more like last two because no one needs to see before that.) Anyways I am pretty excited I have my demo reel finished and will be sending it out to some more people. Curio is continuing to move forward. We are getting down to the final weeks so I am really hoping it will all continue to come together as we move closer. This really isn't much of an update but I felt the need to express my happiness of completing my reel.
Random quote because quotes are fun: Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle - PlatoAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17827659238658304836noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7198191494124776446.post-2546936932516787462013-04-20T12:19:00.001-04:002013-04-20T12:19:12.588-04:00TimeTime is a funny thing when you think about it. We always want more and never appreciate it when we have it, thus creating an endless cycle. Graduation is just around corner and I am in constant turmoil wishing it to come sooner and not come for another six weeks at the same time. There are days where you realize that some people are really wonderful people to be around. Everyone needs to vent but its nice when its a two way conversation instead of just one person telling you how everything keeps going wrong but can't see when you are drowning in your surroundings. These people are the ones who appreciate you for who you are. They understand that you are flawed person. But its the really fantastic people who don't just accept your flaws but force you to work through them to become a better person. I am happy to say I have friends like this and I appreciate them. I wonder what would happen if we spent more time uplifting others and appreciating those around us instead of wallowing in self pity and assuming we are in the worst position until the next week comes around. I am guilty of this, I know that not everyone is but I am and I want to be better I just wonder when I will have the time.
Today marks half-way through April???So, apparently it is already half-way through April. I am not exactly sure where the time went but now its getting close to crunch time so I am going to do my best to try to get as much done as possible before we hit actual crunch time. It's just amazing to think about the fact that after school ends this semester, I will be done with college and that is less than 4 and a half weeks away. Our project is picking up we have the rough done for one side and are working on the animated part throughout the next two weeks really heavily. I am hoping to upload my gallery reel to vimeo this week so that people can check out some of the behind the scene photos from the set of this project. Also business cards are coming together I have a good friend of mine (Cara) working on one for me. Gallery is always a busy time but I am happy to say that my senior class has a pretty cool set up with gallery complete with posters, reels, and a video game. The video game is being made by some good friends of mine, Shanay and Zach, you should check out their stuff it's pretty awesome.

Anyways off to accomplish things!
And a quote to leave you with:
Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us dragons exist, but because they tell us dragons can be beaten. - G.K. This film was one that I had not realized the production company Court 13 was working on. If you have seen Beasts of the Southern Wild you should check out Glory at Sea and Death to the Tinman by Court 13 as well both of which you can watch here: Court 13 Films. It is hard to explain why I love these films so much. But one thing I can easily say is that these films all have fantastic scores. Even if you don't like the film you might like the soundtracks to these shorts they have a great unique sound.

Also Jurassic Park in 3D IMAX... need I say more?

Moving on from rambling about this film and such, I have been working on a short film one of my friends wrote for her senior project. I helped produce and then I was Assistant Director on set. I never would have thought I would say that working with Balloons was harder than working with kids. Everyone says kids are hard to work with and I disagree I am not saying that all kids are easy to work with but I think that sometimes people d not really try to work with the kid and treat the kid like an adult only addressing them at a precise moment and ignoring them the rest of the time. Well if I were a kid I wouldn't wanna work like that either but it is hard to find the right place between authoritative and friend with kids on a shoot. Luckily this weekend I found it and it worked out really well. My friend who directed it is now moving on to edit it and I am very excited to see how this charming little film turns out. On other news since this has not been updated in a while, I am working on my own senior project with my friend that is a mixed medium of live action and stop motion and I am really excited to see some of it come together. The filming of live action is done for it but we still have a long way to go.

Alas I shall return to doing work but leave with a quote I stumbled upon today:
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" -Dr. Seuss.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17827659238658304836noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7198191494124776446.post-53053982215625853772013-02-05T15:38:00.001-05:002013-02-05T15:38:23.313-05:00I'm still alive...Hey so I have not updated this in lets see almost a year! I am sorry for that... Right now I am in the process of tweaking some of the layout and trying to really figure out a way to get this to have more recent and relevant things on it. I am currently working on a project that is pretty exciting and will be putting updates on here as it comes along. After a semester of pre-production we are getting to the actual production. So here's to 2013.DMalcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01533402904652659444noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7198191494124776446.post-48540941037830766732012-04-26T23:13:00.001-04:002013-02-05T15:29:29.841-05:00Heights

Pencils everywhere!!! Illustration Friday rolled around again and this is what I came up with. Stress week has rolled around and this is far from how I feel, but nice to take a minute to be able to enjoy the little things.... until someone has to come and bring reality back into it.DMalcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01533402904652659444noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7198191494124776446.post-72320723243998463962012-02-23T19:26:00.000-05:002013-02-05T15:33:51.836-05:00Illustration Friday

Illustration Friday came around and our class participated! I drew a kid on bench in the rain... with a bottle of water. I used gouache opaque watercolor courtesy of Cara Bolley it was fun I haven't done water color before, I fell in love with water color pencils recently but it didn't fit what I needed for this project. Anyways you should check out the website because some of my friends are posting some really cool things for this project.DMalcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01533402904652659444noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7198191494124776446.post-84291073430559200432012-02-21T17:12:00.001-05:002012-02-23T20:15:35.093-05:00Location LimboSo we have the PERFECT Location... Ever. The only problem? We are running into road bumps on the side of securing this location. With multiple calls to different people no luck so far, hopefully by Wednesday this week we will get some information about the locations in the area. It is still possible to get the general area we want but it might just take some more work, which I am willing to put in, but for now we are stuck in limbo. Moving:through.DMalcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01533402904652659444noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7198191494124776446.post-60900437912437610222012-02-11T21:12:00.003-05:002012-02-13T16:35:55.714-05:00Green Lighting!So things have picked up in the last few days. Thursday night we had a very big script meeting that helped flesh a lot of stuff out for the project. The script is being re-written tomorrow hopefully with good results. Friday morning I pitched to practicum to see if anyone wanted to work on the project crew wise. After pitching I expected my two other project members and myself to be standing there awkwardly without anyone, to my surprise and delight we had multiple people who expressed interest in the project. So we walked out of practicum with a crew. Then we met for the project with our adviser and he explained that while the script had yet to be green lit the project was green lit. We had thought before that point that the entire project was not green lit. So by 3pm on Friday we had a green lit project and an entire crew to back it! I was super pumped. Today I was out and about with some of my friends when one of them told me about a general area that had some really nice houses that might fit our location needs for the project. We went to the neighborhood and saw a lot of really awesome potential houses that fit our location needs. My friend had told me that they knew the people that lived on the street and would talk to them about shooting on the street, but lo and behold, we went to a store after driving through the neighborhood and ran into the very people he was talking about!!!! They expressed interest in the possibility of us filming in the neighborhood. They were really supportive of the idea so we will be looking into those locations soon. It is very promising to be able to see this stuff coming together but, as the seven stages of film production claim, it will probably continue to have spurts of ups and downs. So here's to moving:forward.DMalcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01533402904652659444noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7198191494124776446.post-64033745111490868772012-02-10T22:37:00.004-05:002013-02-05T15:34:17.926-05:00Banjo Pigs!
So this is really just to kind of get an idea across of what to expect for the rest of this. I am currently working on different projects and such for school and I will be posting, updating, ranting, praising so on and so forth. Currently, I had been going through a lot of torturous adventures of trying to prepare for my current project. Lots of late nights, new adventures and different situations. I have found comfort in an image that I came across listing the "Seven Stages of Film Production" it is definitely a pick me up. So I hope you enjoy the crazy insanity and disconnected posts I am sure will follow.DMalcolmhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01533402904652659444noreply@blogger.com0
